The rural house in Salamanca “Los Abuelos”

“Los Abuelos” is registered with the Junta de Castilla y León as a rural house (CR37/848)and can be found Horcajo Medianero near Salamanca, Spain. "Los Abuelos" is a two story farm workers house, made from stone. It is situated overlooking the village at its highest point. The house has country side views and offers peace and quiet even though it is only two minutes from the centre of the village. In the village you will find a pharmacy, and a small grocery store which combines as a bakery which produces its own bread and cakes. There are three bars, two of which combine as a restaurant.

The house itself has two large bedrooms of 25m2 each, both with comfortable king size beds and a single bed for young children.  The rooms are tastefully furnished with chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and mirrors etc. The upper floor bedroom is brightly lit from its large window and patio door which overlooks the garden and patio area. The ground floor bedroom is equally as large and cozy and has original wooden ceiling beams. Both bedrooms have an “en suite” bathroom with large shower, the upper floor being slightly larger.

The kitchen is rustic, but fully functional offering everything you need for a comfortable stay including, of course, a large fridge freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. If you don´t feel like cooking indoors while your on holiday we have a large barbecue area in the garden which includes a clay oven. If your holiday doesn’t include any cooking at all a fantastic village restaurant only a few minutes walk away which offers a wonderful Castellano menu. The living room/dining room has a wonderful high ceiling decorated with solid oak beams. A large rustic metal lamp hangs from the centre beam above a solid pine dining table with plenty of room for 6 people. Eat in comfort while enjoying the warmth from the rustic fireplace in the corner of the room. There is also a comfortable seating area where you can watch some TV if you want. Many programs can be watched in English as well as Spanish.

The style and decoration for the house has been carefully chosen to reflect life in the country in days gone by. Of course practicality has also been taken into account to ensure the comfort of out guests. From the dining room/living room you can access the patio Castellano. Partially covered, you can eat outside in the evenings or during the day sitting in sunshine or shade and using the large brick built barbecue area. There is plenty of space and again a table for 6 and plenty of extra chairs. The patio is the perfect place to rest peacefully with only the occasional noise from the sheep or cows that pass by on the way to pasture.

Please don't hesitate to contact us for further information. We look forward to offering you a warm welcome to "Los Abuelos" in the near future. Kevan, Soraya and Sam
